FJS Cup trial cancelled – Spanish Cup for adaptive alpine skiing - Formigal

"The third stop of the Fundación Jesús Serra Spanish Cup for Adaptive Alpine Skiing, which was programmed to take place in Formigal from 24 to 26 March, has been cancelled due to the impossibility of hosting the races in the best conditions due to the snow conditions at the Aragonese station. "

The heat, snow condition and high temperatures forecast for the next few days prevent the ski slopes from being kept in optimum condition, which means that the competition must be cancelled.

Therefore, the Fundación Jesús Serra Spanish Cup for Adaptive Alpine Skiing is announcing the end of the season after successfully celebrating the two previous trials in Baqueira Beret in January with 204 skiers, and the Sierra Nevada in February with 226 participants.

The Fundación Jesús Serra Spanish Cup for Adaptive Alpine Skiing is the only adaptive alpine ski circuit in Spain open to sportspeople with and without disabilities. The championship is organised by FJS in collaboration with the Centre for Adaptive Winter Sports (CDIA), the Spanish Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF) and the Spanish Federation for Persons with Cerebral Paralysis and Acquired Brain Injury (FEDPC), the Spanish Federation of Sports for the Blind (FEDC) and the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation (RFEDI).

The Spanish Cup was created to develop an integrated competition that is a national reference and to promote the coexistence of sportspeople with and without disabilities, seeking standardisation through sport and raising awareness on the relevance of sport in the normalisation of disabilities, whether they are physical, intellectual or sensory.

The competition will resume activity next season with the aim of repeating the current circuit and increasing participants.
