Seguros Bilbao is committed to culture and reaffirms its support of the Fair Saturday Foundation initiative “Cuentos para pensar” (Stories to think about)

"The insurance company collaborates for the third consecutive year with this cultural initiative, which in this edition focuses on the fight against racism."

Seguros Bilbao has confirmed its commitment to the Fair Saturday Foundation for another year in the third edition of "Stories to think about," an initiative that promotes culture and writing among young people in Bilbao and Bizkaia, as well as encouraging their critical spirit in the face of different social challenges and empathising with others. After the success of the past years, the competition focuses on its latest edition in the fight against racism.

In this edition, more than 400 children from nearly 25 schools in Bizkaia have participated with their stories, the only requirement of which is to raise awareness, denounce and propose solutions to combat racism. The 30 best stories have been chosen from all the entries to form part of a digital book that will be published in the coming weeks.

The prize-giving event for the thirty winners, which took place in the San Mamés Stadiu, was attended by José Manuel Ereño, Deputy Commercial Director of Seguros Bilbao; the president of Athletic Club, Aitor Elizegi; the president of the Athletic Club foundation, Juan Carlos Ercoreca; The Councillor for Cooperation, Coexistence and Celebrations, Itziar Urtasun; The President of Unicef Euskadi, Isidro Elezgarai and the founder of Fair Saturday, Jordi Albareda.

"The support for this initiative for the third consecutive year demonstrates the bond between Seguros Bilbao and the events that take place in the Basque Country, especially those that combine two essential pillars such as culture and education. For this reason, I congratulate the Fair Saturday Foundation for the work it has done, which today is more necessary than ever," said Ereño.

Albareda also welcomed the insurance company's commitment "to this cultural and educational initiative, which aims to sow seeds of values among younger people. Seeing the result of their involvement, creativity and empathy is truly moving."

Support for social causes

In addition to promoting culture, "Cuentos para Pensar" is also an initiative that promotes empathy among the youngest members of society. In this regard, at the start of the competition, the children selected a social project to support and dedicate their award to in the event of winning. For this reason, the €1,500 prize money will be destined to various organisations such as SOS Racismo, Unicef and Save the Children, among others. The aim is for youngsters to research and empathise with different social causes.
