Francisco José Arregui, General Manager of Grupo Catalana Occidente, announces his retirement

Francisco José Arregui, General Manager of Grupo Catalana Occidente, has announced his upcoming retirement after more than twenty years in the position, which will be effective from 1 January 2023. The decision was announced at a Board of Directors meeting of the insurance group held today, 27 October.

With a law degree from the University of Barcelona, a State Lawyer and having completed a Business Management Programme at IESE, Arregui has been one of the company's key executives over the last few decades. Since 1988, when he joined Grupo Catalana Occidente as General Secretary and Secretary of the Board of Directors, and also a member of the Group's Management Committee, he has held positions of great relevance. In 1998 he was appointed member of the Group’s Board and of most of its entities, as well as trustee of Fundación Jesús Serra in 1997. It was in 2001 that he became General Manager, a position he has held to date. At sector level, Arregui is also a member of UNESPA's executive committee. Prior to joining the insurance group, he worked as a State Lawyer between 1984 and 1988.

After more than 30 years with the Group, Francisco José Arregui is proud of the work he has undertaken and is convinced that Grupo Catalana Occidente has a promising future ahead of it. "It has been very enriching to be able to contribute to the evolution of the Group over more than three decades, which currently has more than 4 million policyholders and a presence in more than 50 countries. Faithful to its strategic purpose of being a leader in risk protection and long-term forecasting for the family market and small and medium-sized companies, as well as being an international leader in commercial risk coverage, I am convinced that Grupo Catalana Occidente will continue to reap great achievements thanks to all the people who are part of it", he assured.

José María Serra, Chairman of Grupo Catalana Occidente, thanked Francisco José Arregui for his dedication and loyalty. "He has been a pivotal person within the Group's successful trajectory over the past decades. We wish him all the best in his new stage."
