Grupo Catalana Occidente helps companies teleworking with new free Cyberrisk Insurance services

"Firms who have taken out this product with the companies Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao will be able to extend cyber protection to the homes and equipment of all their employees who are working remotely from home"

In view of the exceptional measures taken to curb Covid-19, many self-employed workers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have opted for teleworking as a measure that allows them to protect the health of their employees, while maintaining their business activity. For this reason, and with the aim of ensuring the cyber protection of their customers, Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao have expanded the preventive services of their Cyberrisk Insurance free of charge.

Specifically, those firms that have taken out this product with any of these insurance companies may extend the cyber protection cover to the homes and equipment of all their employees who are teleworking. The services covered include:

  • The possibility of installing the Anti-Ransomware application in the employee's home on all the computers the customer wants, and it is valid for any version of Windows for a period of up to one year.
  • The detection and elimination of malware, temporary files, cookies and services that slow down or endanger the data or the functioning of the customer's computers.
  • The possibility of carrying out an analysis of the IP vulnerabilities and all the connected elements (smart TV, tablets, smartphones, etc.) in each of the homes of the employees who are teleworking.
  • The vulnerabilities cover includes a technical support service.
  • Specific support to help them to securely configure the employee's home equipment.
  • Review of antivirus and configuration of Microsoft Windows Defender in the event that the security system is not up to date.

Cybersecurity and teleworking

Since the state of alarm came into force, a significant increase in cybercrime has been detected. In this regard, the Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) has alerted in recent weeks of different campaigns for sending e-mails with attachments containing malware. For this reason, it is important to extend cyber protection to home teleworkers.

One of the main recommendations is that access to the office's resources be made through VPN (Virtual Private Network), to minimise a company's risk of their employees working from home will suffer a cyber attack.
