Grupo Catalana Occidente innovates home repair solutions to make them more sustainable, faster and less invasive

"Thanks to a new practice carried out in bathroom repairs, the insurance company manages to save time and inconvenience to its customers and reduce the amount of waste generated. "

Grupo Catalana Occidente has launched a new technique of non-invasive interventions in home repairs. With this new practice, the Group manages to carry out the interventions in less time, without altering their quality, and saving the insured person inconvenience. It also supports sustainability by reducing waste generated from repairs.

Non-invasive procedures are specified in two types of practices. The first is performed to rebuild bath valves and shower trays, and it allows the device to be repaired without having to break tiles or remove partitions. With the traditional intervention method, the process to solve this type of breakdown could take 20 days, as it also depended on the assistance of a glazier. However, with non-invasive intervention, the bathroom is disabled for a single day, avoiding waste and unnecessary expenditure on materials.

The second practice in which this type of intervention is being applied is with the removal of tiles. Thanks to this new service, when a breakdown and/or incident occurs, the repair company can remove the affected tiles without breaking them, resolve the incident, and fix them back in the same place again. Unlike this process, which is carried out on the same day as the repair, the traditional method of intervention take up to 15 days.

With these two non-invasive methods, Grupo Catalana Occidente has managed to save between 3.4 and 6.8 cubic metres of waste in its more than 900 cases attended to, by avoiding replacing the shower or bathtub, the valve and the tiles of the affected area of the bathroom. This intervention also avoids extended repair periods and does not require the use of extra material to resolve the incident.

To carry out this type of non-invasive intervention, it is necessary to carry out a case study beforehand to find out if this procedure can be applied in the breakdown, as not all accidents are susceptible to this type of repair.

In the words of the director of the networks of collaborators and experts of Grupo Catalana Occidente, Antonio Gutiérrez, "this new technique is part of the commitment of Grupo Catalana Occidente to create innovative solutions. Thanks to non-invasive interventions, we can respond quickly and effectively to our customers' needs, while contributing to sustainability".
