Grupo Catalana Occidente presents a voluntary departure plan for its traditional business staff

"The insurance group met with all the unions today to begin the information and consultation period regarding the plan. The programme, which is estimated to be open to between 400 and 550 employees on a voluntary basis, will be developed over two years and aims to achieve a better organisational adaptation of the workforce for the future corporate unification of the traditional business. "

Today, Grupo Catalana Occidente presented a plan of voluntary employee departures that is estimated to be able to benefit up to 550 employees to all the unions that represent its workforce (CCOO, UGT, CGT, ELA, co.bas and SICO). The aim of the plan is to achieve a better organisational adaptation after the corporate unification of the group's traditional business, scheduled for the end of 2023.

In this regard, the plan is part of the process of corporate simplicity that the insurance group began years ago with the integration of its operational platforms, and the company will continue to unify Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros, Seguros Bilbao and GCO Reaseguros in the next financial year. In this context, the Group has analysed what its future capacities and needs will be as a result of improvements in process efficiency and elimination of operational duplication, and it has made an initial estimate of excess capacity of between 400 and 550 employees in the traditional business, from a staff of 2,400 people.

The proposal for voluntary departures, which aims to compensate for this excess capacity and which is expected to be carried out over a period of two years, focuses exclusively on the structural staff, without any impact on the provision of service, customer service or mediation networks.

Human Resources Director at Grupo Catalana Occidente, Pedro Ribes, explained that "now a period of information exchange and consultations of the incentivised voluntary employee departure plan has commenced with worker representatives, which will be carried out with complete transparency and ensuring the service quality guarantee that we give our insurers."
