NorteHispana Seguros launches Mascotas, a comprehensive insurance policy to protect pets

NorteHispana Seguros, a Seguros Catalana Occidente company, has launched Mascotas, a new customisable insurance policy whose purpose is to provide full protection for pets and peace of mind for their owners. With this new product, the insurance company seeks to provide its customers with the best veterinary care coverage, legal defence and other services.  

This product, especially designed for dogs and cats, offers more flexible options, since policyholders can choose between basic and extended coverage depending on their needs. In terms of health, pets will be protected by guarantees that cover medical expenses due to accidents or illness, which include both in-person visits to the veterinarian and a hotline.

And the customer can extend the veterinary assistance to cover other cases, including the most frequent problems that can affect dogs and cats, such as ingestion of foreign bodies, trauma and internal injuries, fights with other animals, and more. Finally, optional coverage is also available through which the company will cover travel expenses if the pet needs to receive specialised treatment in another municipality.

The policy also makes available to customers a network of pet daycares at special prices and, if the owner has an accident and cannot take care of their pet, the policy will cover the dog's or cat's stay in this type of centre. Similarly, through reimbursement coverage for loss or theft, the policy covers the cost of finding the pet through written means (signs and posters) or audiovisual media (television and radio), and also compensation if the pet is stolen.

The policy also provides legal defence and civil liability coverage if the pet causes an accident or injuries to third parties, as well as services so the policyholder can file for damages if the covered pet is injured by another animal or vehicle.

On a related matter, for those customers who want even greater protection, the policy offers a wide range of supplementary services, including travel coverage, whereby the company guarantees to pay up to €1,000 to the customer if they have to cancel all or part of their holiday due to serious illness or loss of the pet.
