Occident, the new brand of Plus Ultra Seguros, has reaffirmed its commitment to adaptive sports by sponsoring the wheelchair basketball Copa del Rey tournament

"The brand, which combines the traditional business brands of Grupo Catalana Occidente, has extended the agreement that Plus Ultra Seguros has maintained with the Spanish Sports Federation of Persons with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF) for the sixth consecutive year. "

Occident, the new brand which combines the traditional business of Grupo Catalana Occidente, has extended the agreement that Plus Ultra Seguros has maintained with the Spanish Sports Federation of Persons with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF) for the sixth consecutive year. With this collaboration, the insurer thus reaffirms its support for adaptive sports and the values it promotes, such as integration, overcoming obstacles and teamwork.

The competition took place in the Miguel Guillén Prim sports centre in Madrid between 21 and 23 April, and the first eight basketball players classified in the wheelchair basketball league took part. During the tournament, the image of Occident was visible on the official signage, perimeter advertising around the court and on advertising within the match broadcast streams.

In the words of Julián Herrera, CEO of Plus Ultra Seguros, "it is an honour to continue promoting adaptive sports through our new brand, Occident". In this regard, Julián emphasised that "the wheelchair basketball Copa del Rey is a reference when it comes to giving visibility to people with disabilities, and we want to maintain our commitment to a very inclusive event in our society".

Meanwhile, the chairman of the FEDDF, Enrique Álvarez Orcajo, thanked Occident for his support in this project "which aims to give people with disabilities the opportunity to engage in sports in a professional way".

Occidente, the new brand of Plus Ultra Seguros

Grupo Catalana Occidente recently announced the merging of its traditional business companies (Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros, Seguros Bilbao and NorteHispana Seguros) under a single brand called Occident. This union is part of the corporate simplification process that the insurance group put in motion years ago and aims to achieve a more streamlined organisation that responds quickly and effectively to market demands.

The unification process will be implemented in two phases: first, predictably at the end of 2023, the merger of Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao will take effect, which will then operate under the Occident brand. In a second phase, at a later date, NorteHispana Seguros will also be included.
