Occident strengthens its commitment to sport by once again sponsoring the Bera Bera Club

Occident, in a further demonstration of its strong commitment to sport, has renewed its sponsorship of the San Sebastian-based women's handball team, the Bera Bera club, for the coming season. This agreement highlights the insurance company's commitment to promoting the values inherent to sport, such as teamwork, mutual respect and constant dedication.

The new sponsorship agreement will allow Occident to have a strong presence on the official players' T-shirts and on the court when the first team is playing at home. The brand will also be present on other key media, such as the press panel, communication materials and the official website of the handball division. Through the club's social networks, there will once again be an initiative to find the “Best Player” in each match, to recognise the person who has stood out on that day.

In addition, Occident will sponsor the Club's Equality programme, a Bera Bera Club initiative aimed at promoting equality and women's sport in Guipúzcoa, through activities such as meetings and interviews.

Juan Closa, Managing Director of Occident, said that: “Bera Bera is a club that makes the extraordinary seem easy, and it gives us great pride to be part of its history and to be by its side in this new achievement, the winning of its fourth treble. With this sponsorship, we aim to continue promoting women's sport and the values that define it.”

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Bera Bera Club, Fernando Díez Muintei, added: “We deeply appreciate the ongoing support received from Occident, which allows super amara Bera Bera to achieve its goals and to be a shining example for thousands of girls and boys.”

The Bera Bera Club has been named league champions for the ninth time, giving it a total of 26 titles, including nine leagues, eight Queen's Cups and nine Supercups in Spain. These achievements position Bera Bera as one of the most outstanding teams in the world of elite women's handball.

Occident, committed to Basque culture and sport

Occident is showing its firm commitment to the Basque cultural and sports sector, through numerous programmes to support entities in the region. In 2024, Occident has sponsored the Martha Jungwirth exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, of which it is a trustee; and has again supported different sports clubs such as Bilbao Basket and Miribilla Cycling. Likewise, in March it sponsored the 35th Occident Bilbao-Bilbao International Cycling Event for All, which attracted over 7,000 participants.
