Occident brings together more than 6,000 agents and mediators during its Business Forums

"These are the first Business Forums held under the new Occident brand, which brings together a large part of the insurer's mediation network."

More than 6,000 mediators, including agents and brokers, met online on 7 and 8 February in the first Business Forums held under the Occident brand and after its organisational structure was defined. This meeting, which is held annually, is key to conveying Occident's 2024 objectives and strategy to the network of mediators.

The CEO of GCO, Hugo Serra, opened the conference with a speech in which he reviewed the global macroeconomic environment and explained how GCO will continue to support its strategy in the pillars of growth, profitability and solvency. Serra highlighted the milestone in 2024 of the merging of companies into the new Occident brand has led to greater corporate simplicity, resulting in greater agility and ability to adapt to the customer.

Serra also highlighted the network of Occident mediators, made up of more than 15,000 agents and brokers, and announced that “this year we will continue to train our mediator network, providing them with the tools and training necessary to enable them to interact with our customers more and more effectively, thus guaranteeing their proximity".

Finally, the CEO stressed that mediation will continue to be the strategic channel and to which greater development efforts will be allocated.

Speak to the customer in capital letters

After the speech by Hugo Serra, the Managing Director of Occident, Juan Closa, took the floor and gave a brief overview of the economic context and trends observed in the insurance sector, to move on to Occident's main projects for this year.

Juan Closa pointed out that one of the highlights of the year is continuing to invest in the growth and productivity of the commercial network. “We are at a time of great technological evolution that, at Occident, we want to make the most of in order to continue making progress in the creation of the network, and in improving efficiency and customer service,” he said.

Similarly, the Managing Director of Occident highlighted that 2024 will be about focusing on the customer. “We will evolve the segmentation of our customers thanks to data technology and the knowledge of our mediators, to continue building a value offer that meets our customers' expectations,” he stressed.

The Business Forums also included talks from the Commercial Director of Occident, Raúl Lucena, who highlighted, among other things, the success model that the various channels of Occident mediation and the added value of the digital and advisory tools made available to brokers.

Daniel Ciprés, Occident's Director of Life products, underlined the improvements implemented in digital health services, which will continue to expand, and the new developments that will come in savings and solutions for senior customers, who are increasingly becoming a group of greater importance.

Josep Esclusa, Director of General Insurance at Occident, focused on the improvements that will be made to automobile, private and company products, as well as improvements in underwriting and technical innovation processes.

Meanwhile, Xavier Fontanet, Managing Director of GCO Operations, closed the session, detailing the improvements in the service quality indicators achieved in 2023 and the following procedures that will be implemented to achieve greater efficiency in the sales and claims support processes. He also mentioned the deployment of new commercial analytics initiatives that will help to customise the offer and improve commercial productivity.
