Occident joins the Board of Directors of Agroseguro

"The Company, strongly committed to the agricultural sector, has extended the marketing of agricultural insurance throughout its network of brokers and agents."

Occident has joined the Board of Directors of Agroseguro, the Spanish Group of Combined Agricultural Insurance Companies, thus becoming one of the six companies forming this governing body. Manuel Martínez, Occident's Director of Insurance for Companies, will be representing the company in Agroseguro.

The birth of Occident, which has included Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao since 1 January, has led to an increase in the number of mediators dedicated to marketing this type of policy. Occident is now marketing this type of product throughout its network of agents and brokers, in a clear commitment by the Company to agricultural insurance. It should also be noted that Occident's mediators have the technical assistance of the Agroseguro promoters, who offer them training and advice on how best to introduce the product and provide support.

Occident's Combined Agricultural Insurance protects agricultural, livestock, aquaculture and forestry operations against most climate-related risks or accidents that may occur, to ensure continuity and cover diseases or accidents that may affect livestock. Among other advantages, the product also provides specialised assistance when choosing coverage for the insured parties' holdings and allows them to pay the premium in instalments, with a guarantee by the Sociedad Anónima Estatal de Caución Agraria (SAECA).

Support for the primary sector

Occident views agricultural insurance as a vital tool for society. The current climate situation has made agricultural insurance a guarantee of security and certainty for arable and livestock farmers, increasing demand for this type of policy. Occident's Director of Business Insurance and Combined Agricultural Insurance, Manuel Martínez, explained that “as a leading company in the field of agricultural insurance, Occident's membership of the Agroseguro Board is a reflection of our commitment to the primary sector, especially now, when we are most needed.”

Mr Martínez also highlighted the essential of the mediation network in this area. “Occident's agents and brokers, plus the Company's team of promoters, are authentic specialists in agriculture, and advise producers on the most suitable insurance options for their holdings,” he added.
