"This insurance increases various coverages against the risks inherent to this type of home, such as possible risks due to meteorological phenomena"
Occident launches the first home insurance designed for cave houses on the market, a unique type of home that has unique characteristics in terms of structure, habitability and exposure to risks.
Cave houses have become an option for sustainable housing and a boom in rural tourism. They are very common in several areas of Spain, such as the eastern part of Andalusia, especially the provinces of Granada and Almería, as well as in the Canary Islands, especially on the island of Gran Canaria. However, their configuration, which combines excavated rooms in the rock with conventional construction areas, requires insurance with coverage adapted to your specific needs. With this new product, Occident offers comprehensive protection for this type of home, guaranteeing its owners security and peace of mind.
This new modality includes essential cover for this type of home, such as weather damage and even cover for roof and façade leaks. In addition, full civil liability coverage is offered as a result of the property's ownership, including the water civil liability.
The insurance also has coverage to guarantee solar panels in the event of a claim, given that many cave houses have incorporated renewable energy systems. In the event of the property becoming uninhabitable, the expenses of the property are included in similar homes or in hotel rooms. Furthermore, as they are in more isolated areas, cave houses may be exposed to vandalism and theft, so the policy covers both property and material damage.
On the other hand, the rise in tourist rentals of cave houses has led Occident to include options in its policy for owners who use their homes for this purpose. Additional coverage is provided to protect both the owner and tenants, guaranteeing the continuity of this activity in the event of claims. In this regard, Occident offers specific coverage when the cave house is rented, as well as the option of contracting the tourism use offer with coverages designed for this purpose.
With this new Cave House insurance, Occident reaffirms its commitment to innovation and adaptation to the different needs of the real estate market. "We want to offer real solutions adapted to all types of housing, providing peace of mind and protection to our customers, regardless of where they live," said Sergio López, Director of Private Insurance at Occident.
