Occident becomes a patron of the Joan Miró Foundation on its 50th anniversary

Occident has signed a collaboration agreement with the Joan Miró Foundation to become the patron of the prestigious artistic centre for its 50th anniversary, which will take place from this June to June 2026. This allows the insurance company to demonstrate its commitment to promoting art and culture, while bringing the work of Joan Miró, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, to the public.

As part of the agreement, Occident will form part of the Miró Council, an advisory and participatory body of the foundation designed to support and advise the institution on the preparation and implementation of the activities planned for the celebration of its 50th anniversary. The insurance company will also have a prominent presence in the central exhibition entitled Pintar el Cielo. 50 years of stories from the Miró Foundation, which will be inaugurated on 11 June 2025.

The signing ceremony was attended by Berta Solé, Marketing and Communication Director of Occident and Marko Daniel, director of the Joan Miró Foundation. In Solé's words, “at Occident, we have always been committed to promoting art and culture in all its forms. For this reason, we are proud to give support to the Joan Miró Foundation, which works to preserve the legacy of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.”

Daniel thanked the insurance company for its trust in the institution and assured that “with the support of Occident and the rest of the companies that form part of the Miró Council, we not only commemorate our legacy, but also lay the foundations for the next 50 years of the institution. Our commitment is to ensure the conservation of the collection, the improvement of the building and the strengthening of the Foundation as a living space for future generations.”

The Joan Miró Foundation, fifty years of history

On 10 June, the Joan Miró Foundation celebrates its half-century of life with a special programme to highlight the Catalan artist's career. Exhibitions, retrospective exhibitions and other important activities will cover the history of the museum, showcase the impact of Miró's works on art and culture, and serve as an artistic experimentation laboratory that connects the most innovative and emerging creative trends with our society.
