Occident confirms its support for sport with the sponsorship of the 71st edition of the Conde de Godó tennis tournament

"With this sponsorship, the company reaffirms its commitment to the famous tournament, which is also positioned as a reference sports event in the field of sustainability. "

Occident is to sponsor the 71st edition of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell - Conde de Godó Trophy as its official partner for the second consecutive year. The tournament is taking place from 13 to 21 April in Barcelona and forms part of the ATP Tour 500. In this regard, the insurer maintains its support for the tennis tournament as part of its strategy to encourage participation in sports and promote the values it represents.

Under the sponsorship agreement, Occident will have a brand presence in the Rafa Nadal Court and in the Andrés Gimeno championship court, as well as on the service box located next to the net, on the towel rails and on all the digital elements of the tournament. In addition, it will also be giving its name once again to the Zona Occident, an entertainment space where spectators can enjoy a variety of musical performances, among other events.

In the words of Juan Closa, Managing Director of Occident, “with this sponsorship, we demonstrate our firm commitment to tennis and, specifically, to this event of great international relevance.” The sponsorship deal also responds to the insurance company's commitment to sustainability, given that the tournament has been positioned in recent years as a reference among sports events for its commitment to sustainable practices. In this regard, Closa stated that “we will continue to support all those activities that promote sustainability and contribute to the greater well-being of society.”

Meanwhile, the tournament director, David Ferrer, thanked Occident for placing its trust in the tournament. “This event was founded more than 70 years ago to promote tennis at national level and has not stopped growing since, thanks to the support of organisations such as Occident, who recognise our work and contribution to sport,” says Ferrer.

Apart from being a smoke-free tournament and promoting sustainable mobility, this edition will have a project to reuse greywater and rainwater to water the grounds and gardens of the enclosure, among other actions. The tournament will also have LED lighting installed on all the courts. The tournament has been awarded the ISO 20121 certificate for managing sustainable events since 2018, as well as the Barcelona Biosphere distinction for its commitment to the city's tourism sustainability.
