Occident strengthens its commitment to music sponsoring of “El Desconcert”

Occident once again shows its support for the cultural and musical sector. This time, the insurance company will sponsor the seventh edition of 'El Desconcert', an event organised by iCat, the music and cultural radio station of Catalunya Ràdio, which seeks to bring music to various Catalan cities through small-format concerts, such as showcases and mini-concerts.

The event kicks off in Manresa today, Friday 26 January, and is scheduled to visit three more cities between February and April: Tarragona (23 February), Sant Feliu de Guíxols (16 March) and La Seu d'Urgell (19 April). In the four concerts, two or more Catalan artists will unite their music in an unthinkable way to perform several of their songs together, and will end with a mini-concert of their own repertoires. Lastly, 'El Desconcert', which is regarded as the big party of the Catalan music scene, will conclude with a big closing event on 14 May at the Sala Apolo in Barcelona with leading artists from the music scene.

In the words of Occident's CEO, Juan Closa, "music and culture are, together with sport, one of the cornerstones of the insurance group's sponsorship strategy". In that regard, he assures that "over the years, the insurance group has shown its support for the cultural sector with all kinds of sponsorships, and we are proud to be part of events that foster the arts in society".

Occident and its support for the music sector

In 2023, Occident upheld its steadfast commitment to the cultural sector through its collaboration in various music events. In August, Occident joined the Summerfest Cerdanya festival as a title sponsor, renaming it Occident Summerfest, and in the same month it took part in the 11th edition of the White Summer Festival as a sponsor of the renowned Costa Brava event, with a prominent presence on the main stage. The insurer is also the main sponsor of the boutique Starlite Occident festival and has recently backed the new Christmas by Starlite music initiative.
