Occident gives its name of the 35th edition of the Occident Bilbao-Bilbao International Cycling for All Event

Occident sponsored the 35th edition of the Occident Bilbao-Bilbao International Cycling for All Event, which took place on Sunday 17 March. The insurer continues to support this traditional event, which has been renamed in an edition that has brought together a total of 7,089 sportspeople of all ages.

As part of its collaboration, Occident was the first name sponsor of the trial since its creation in 1988, and has now been renamed "Occident Bilbao-Bilbao." Occident also had a brand presence in the registration area, as well as in the advertising material delivered to participants and on the banners at the start and the finish points.

As is already customary, the participants had a choice of three types of routes (85km, 115km and 125km) that ran through some of the most iconic areas of Bizkaia, such as La Ría de Bilbao, the Cantabrian Coast, the green valleys and the Guggenheim Museum, among other landmark places.

In the words of Juan Closa, Managing Director of Occident, “we are proud to have been part, one year more, of the celebration of this event that encourages the spirit of sport at all ages.” In this regard, he stated that “through our sponsorship of sporting events such as this, at Occident we want to bring these values closer to society.”

Promoting Basque culture and sport

Occident is a company fully committed to the Basque cultural and sports sector, through its numerous collaborations with entities in the region. In 2023, Occident sponsored the Gego exhibition. Measuring Infinity at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao of which it is a patron; and backed the Fair Saturday movement. In the sports field, the company renewed its collaboration with the sports clubs Bilbao-Basket, Miribilla Cycling, and the women's handball team of the Donostiarra Bera-Berera sports club.
