Occident updates its Salud healthcare insurance with new coverage and services

"The company has improved the policy to offer a more complete and competitive product for all age segments and profiles "

Occident has updated its Salud healthcare insurance, adding new cover and services to offer a more competitive product adapted to all profiles and age segments. This update is designed to gain competitiveness, as well as continue to drive the health business as a strategic branch for the insurer.

The company has added various advanced surgeries which are now covered by this health product. These include surgery with green, holmium or Thulium laser for benign prostate hyperplasia and the use of lasers for the treatment of haemorrhoids. Radiofrequency for turbinate operations (ORL) and nasal septal (non-aesthetic) and phimosis surgery has also been added.

In addition, the Salud healthcare insurance includes the extension of the current reimbursement limits for visits in gynaecology and paediatrics, as well as for medications. Specifically, Occident has expanded the annual visits to gynaecology and paediatrics with specialists outside the associated medical pool to four, and increased the reimbursement limit to €60 per visit. In the case of reimbursement for medicines, the percentage has been increased to 80% of the bill, with an annual limit of €250, applicable both to generic and non-generic medications.

All the new Salud healthcare insurance features are now available for all its customers. Occident is therefore reaffirming its commitment to updating its health products year after year with innovative surgical techniques and better features for its insured parties.

According to Núria Casasús, Director of Life, Health and Pension Plan Products at Occident, “with these improvements, we want to offer our customers a more comprehensive product that fully meets their needs in the essential area of healthcare”. He went on to say that, “these new developments will allow Occident to offer a more competitive product in the field of health”.

Commitment to digital healthcare

Occident offers various digital healthcare services to streamline the procedures of its insured parties and allow them to access all the services of its medical pool effectively and simply. Through the Your digital health platform, policyholders have a medical chat and a video consultation service with specialists in the most requested specialities, such as general medicine, paediatrics, nutrition, dermatology, gynaecology, endocrinology and psychology.

In addition, through this tool, insured parties can access their medical reports and electronic prescriptions, consult the medical pool, request referrals for medical consultations and tests, manage the reimbursement of medical treatments and medicines, and more.

Customers can also use the virtual Health Insurance Card in the app, which allows them to identify themselves immediately in the associated medical centres without having to carry the physical card.

In 2024, more than 900 consultations were performed through the medical chat and there were around 1,100 medical video consultations, with no need to leave home and no co-payments, rated at 9.86 by the insured parties.
