Plus Ultra Seguros sponsors the wheelchair basketball Copa del Rey tournament for the fifth consecutive year

"With this collaboration, the insurance company reinforces its commitment to the adaptive sport and the Spanish Sports Federation for Persons with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF)."

Plus Ultra Seguros, a company of Grupo Catalana Occidente, reaffirms its support for the Spanish Sports Federation for Persons with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF) by sponsoring the 44th Copa del Rey wheelchair basketball championship, which took place in Málaga last month. The insurer has collaborated with this sport for more than five years, reaffirming its commitment to adaptive sports and the values it promotes, such as integration, overcoming obstacles and teamwork.

During the tournament, which took place on 21 and 22 May at the Ciudad Deportiva Carranque sports centre in Malaga and at the Vélez-Málaga sports pavilion, the insurer's brand was visible on the official signage, perimeter advertising around the court, on the court itself at both centres, and on advertising within the match broadcast streams.

The director of the agency network, institutions and marketing of Plus Ultra Seguros, Pablo Sampedro, stressed that "this type of competition helps to raise awareness for adaptive sport, while raising awareness about the integration of people with disabilities, both in sport and in other areas." He also said that the insurance company "is proud to continue collaborating with the FEDDF and sponsoring, the Copa del Rey wheelchair basketball for another year."

The chairman of the FEDDF, Enrique Álvarez, highlighted the importance of this sponsorship for the tournament and that "thanks to this type of agreement, athletes with disabilities can be part of professional sport."

Five years collaborating with the FEDDF

The collaboration between Plus Ultra Seguros and FEDDF dates back to 2017, when the insurance company sponsored the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship for the first time. Since then, the two companies have collaborated in the organisation of various competitions and conferences, in order to promote adaptive sport. In this regard, in 2020 the insurance company was awarded the FEDDF Juan Palau Award, awarded to the best sponsor company. The award recognises the company's efforts to accompany and promote activities, organisations and athletes with physical disabilities.
