Plus Ultra Seguros supports adaptive sport by sponsoring the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship

Plus Ultra Seguros reiterated its support for the Spanish Sports Federation for Persons with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF) by sponsoring the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship, which was held in Madrid from 4 to 12 December. This partnership demonstrates the commitment of the Grupo Catalana Occidente company to promoting adaptive sport and the social inclusion of people with disabilities. 

The championship, which took place at the Francisco Fernández Ochoa Municipal Sports Centre and the Marqués de Samaranch Municipal Sports Centre in Madrid, was attended by 12 European countries and around 350 people including players, technical teams, classifiers and other staff. During the tournament, the insurer's brand was visible on the official signage, perimeter advertising around the court, on the court itself at both centres, and on advertising within the match broadcast streams. 

The General Sales Manager of Plus Ultra Seguros, Luis Vallejo, emphasised that for the company, "it was an honour to work with the FEDDF at a leading European tournament". With this agreement, "Plus Ultra Seguros underlines its commitment to the FEDDF, having sponsored the wheelchair basketball Copa del Rey tournament and days dedicated to inclusive sport for several years, helping to raise public awareness of adaptive sport", he added.

This collaboration reflects a joint project initiated 4 years ago with the sponsorship of this championship. In 2020, Plus Ultra Seguros was awarded the Juan Palau Award by the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF) for best sponsor company. The award recognises the insurer's efforts to encourage initiatives, organisations and athletes with physical disabilities.
