Seguros Bilbao reiterates its support for the Fair Saturday movement

"For the seventh consecutive year, the insurance company is sponsoring the project, which was born as a counterpoint to Black Friday and which promotes cultural actions that generate a positive social impact."

Seguros Bilbao, a company of Grupo Catalana Occidente, is once again sponsoring the Fair Saturday movement, a global initiative that focuses on social and cultural projects, and which arrived in Bilbao in 2014. This is the seventh consecutive year that the insurance company has supported this project, highlighting its commitment to culture and the promotion of a fairer and more empathetic society.

The Fair Saturday movement was born as a counterpoint and positive response to the commercialism of Black Friday, with the aim of making society reflect on its future and vindicating art as an essential element in building just and developed societies. In this way, every last Saturday of November a day is held with various cultural activities -such as music events and theatre productions- the profits oof which are destined to the social causes chosen by the artists themselves who participate in the movement.

Seguros Bilbao, whose sponsorship strategy is focused primarily on promoting art and sport in the Basque Country, wanted to reiterate its support for this movement. In the words of the insurance company's deputy general sales manager, José Manuel Ereño, "we are delighted to be part of this initiative that conveys such positive values to society and that involves increasingly more artists and attendees committed to culture and social causes every year."

In this regard, this year the Fair Saturday movement has hosted one of the largest participatory concerts in Bilbao with a social impact in all of Europe. The inaugural event of this edition was a popular celebration of music with the participation of more than 2,500 artists who contributed to generating around €90,000 in income for the artists and the different participating cultural organisations, as well as supporting various social organisations with around €12,000.

According to Jordi Albareda, founder and CEO of the Fair Saturday Foundation, "thanks to the support of companies such as Seguros Bilbao, we see this project grow year by year and we can continue to promote empathy and culture through activities that involve the whole of society."
