Occident, the new Seguros Bilbao brand, will sponsor the Bilbao-Bilbao Cycling Event over the next three years

"Occident, a merger between the GCO (Grupo Catalana Occidente) Traditional Business companies, will be the main sponsor of this traditional event, which will hold its 35th edition in 2024."

Occident, the new Seguros Bilbao brand, continues to promote the sporting spirit with its sponsorship over the next three editions of the International Bilbao-Bilbao Cycling Event, now called “Occident Bilbao-Bilbao”. Through this sponsorship, Occident will continue the decade-long support by Seguros Bilbao for the cycling event, which will hold its 35th edition in 2024.

As a collaborator, Occident will have a brand presence on the competition logo and will form part of the image of the sporting event in all communications in all types of support, and will also have a large presence along the cycling event route, and in its advertising and promotion activities. The next edition of the Occident Bilbao-Bilbao will take place in March. The route will cover various emblematic places in Biscay and the capital, Bilbao, such as the estuary, the Cantabrian coastline, the Guggenheim Museum and Gran Vía.

In the words of the Deputy Sales Director of Seguros Bilbao, José Manuel Ereño, "we are very satisfied that Occident will take up the torch of Seguros Bilbao, and will form part of the Bilbao-Bilbao Cycling Event for the next three years. This way we continue to support the values of effort and achievement that this sports event promotes."

Since the first race in 1988, the Bilbao-Bilbao Cycling Event has become a leading sports events in Biscay. Its three routes (85 km, 115 km and 125 km) and varying degrees of gradients, allow cyclists of all abilities to take part.

About Occident

GCO (Grupo Catalana Occidente) announced the merging of its traditional business companies (Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros, Seguros Bilbao and NorteHispana Seguros) under a single brand, Occident. This merger is part of the corporate simplification process that the insurance group put in motion years ago and aims to achieve a more streamlined organisation that responds quickly and effectively to market demands.

The unification process will be implemented in two phases: first, predictably at the end of 2023, the merger of Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao will take effect, which will then operate under the Occident brand. In a second phase, at a later date, NorteHispana Seguros will also be included.
