Occidente, the new brand of Seguros Bilbao, will give the Miribilla Cycling club its name to promote youth sport

"With this agreement, Occident, the brand that will unify the traditional business companies of GCO (Grupo Catalana Occidente), will give its name to the club and thus prolong the collaboration that Seguros Bilbao had with the entity."

Seguros Bilbao, which will soon become Occident, has renewed its sponsorship with Miribilla Cycling for the next two seasons. In this way, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to the practice of cycling among young people in Bilbao, maintaining the relationship that Seguros Bilbao has had with the club for 5 years.

Under the sponsorship agreement, Occident will give its name to the sports club, which from 2024 will be called "Occident Miribilla." In addition, the new Seguros Bilbao brand will be present in various advertising media for the club, including on cyclists' jerseys and on the club's website.

In the words of the Deputy Commercial Managing Director of Seguros Bilbao, José Manuel Ereño, "we are an insurance company that, since our beginnings, has collaborated with sports entities that share our culture and values". In this sense, he stated that "it is an honour to support clubs that, like Miribilla Cycling, are committed to the practice of sport among young people in the Basque Country and which transmit remarkable values such as self-improvement and commitment".

Miribilla Cycling is a non-profit municipal entity whose social objective is the practice, dissemination and promotion of cycling. With 142 schools and 45 teams, it participates in competitions organised by the Biscayan and Spanish cycling federations in the cadet, youth, under-23 and school categories. It also participates in and organises unofficial sports competitions, always related to the promotion of mountain biking.

About Occident

GCO (Grupo Catalana Occidente) announced the merging of its traditional business companies (Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros, Seguros Bilbao and NorteHispana Seguros) under a single brand, Occident. This merger is part of the corporate simplification process that the insurance group put in motion years ago and aims to achieve a more streamlined organisation that responds quickly and effectively to market demands.

The unification process will be implemented in two phases: first, predictably at the end of 2023, the merger of Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao will take effect, which will then operate under the Occident brand. In a second phase, at a later date, NorteHispana Seguros will also be included.
