The educational project “Los niños y las niñas del barrio” (The boys and girls from the neighbourhood) is back

"The Fundación MACBA and Grupo Catalana Occidente's Fundación Jesús Serra, restart the extracurricular activity Los niños y niñas del barrio (The boys and girls from the neighbourhood), after being so well received in previous editions. "

The purpose of this project is to facilitate access to culture and contemporary art in the neighbourhood's schools.

The completely free-of-charge activity, has a strict preventive protocol that complies with all the health recommendations to combat COVID-19.

The project seeks to ensure that children from the Raval from 9 to 12 years of age come to the museum and enjoy a collective experience with an artist in an elastic area that is open to the imagination.

In this school year, the activity will continue to work with the Beyond the Spatial project by artist Cristina Fraser, a research-action proposal that explores the limitations and possibilities of playing in the museum and its surroundings.

After the experience of lockdown which also affected children, the activity will seek to find out what has changed in public space and recreational sites, how to make the environment and the museum itself more "playable" and sustainable, taking into account the limits that are now more evident.

The idea is to explore and promote the possibilities of our urban environment, and to enable children do this critically through play, and to imagine a sustainable social and environmental space with a focus on life at the centre.
